The interior of ZAP Kitchen & Bar in Split is a blend of tradition and contemporary design in an ambiance with a very clear and recognizable identity. Located at Mažuranićevo šetalište 26, ZAP was named after the former Payments Office, a place that everyone in Split knew in the pre-digital era, when visiting ZAP was a matter of habit.
Today, ZAP is a kitchen and bar, a place that brings back the atmosphere of socializing to a sleepy neighborhood, conceived as a warm and authentic oasis intended for local residents who will stop by for a quality morning coffee, breakfast and lunch, or a snack and an aperitif after work.
The entrance area welcomes visitors with dominant veneered arches that simultaneously welcome guests, divide the space, and provide depth. The forms are rounded in strategic places to soften the contours, give the space fluidity, and achieve connectivity.
The floors are covered in terrazzo. Once an indispensable material throughout Split, it has been reinterpreted in a contemporary way to become the central element of the interior. In addition to terrazzo, the space is filled with natural elements such as walnut, leather, tweed and greenery.
The bar is covered with embossed ceramic tiles whose layered design evokes old green bottles, while a light metal mesh structure above it frames the view towards the kitchen, becoming the central visual and functional element of the restaurant.
The interior inspiration comes from the legacy of Split's architectural heritage, but with enough space to bring in freshness and modernity. Light fixtures, vibrant walls and geometric elements on the wall grids create a playful visual harmony and a new gathering atmosphere. The furniture and lighting rely on the trends of the last century, with an emphasized retro atmosphere that is adapted to the modern needs of guests.
